The Stringuy – About
The Stringuy is more than just a musical project—it’s a cultural bridge.

Created by the brazilian guitarist, singer, and composer Alex Iervolino, this initiative brings the rich tapestry of Brazilian music to global audiences, while fostering meaningful conversations about art, culture, and human connection.
The project’s core mission centers on promoting Brazilian culture through music and social media, offering insights inspired by the diverse styles and artists of Brazil.
By championing cultural promotion, The Stringuy seeks to educate, spark discussions on various topics, and contribute to the healthy development of human knowledge across arts, ethics, politics, technology, and other realms connected to music.
Music serves as a universal language, allowing The Stringuy to transcend borders and explore musical horizons from different cultures, creating a genuine exchange of artistic expression. Through content on major digital platforms, the project brings to life the belief that music only makes sense when it brings people together, creates movements, and frees us from society’s imaginary limits, uniting voices in harmony.
Alex Iervolino
Born on February 13, 1987, in São Paulo, Brazil, Alex Iervolino is a Brazilian guitarist, composer, singer and entrepreneur.
His musical journey began at the age of 13, when he decided to learn to play a guitar that had been stored at home for years—one that had belonged to his late grandfather. He started as a self-taught student using guitar books and music theory materials, and only years later began studying at a music school in the Lapa neighborhood of São Paulo, where he lived for many years.
Determined to pursue a musical career, he began his studies at Souza Lima Music College in São Paulo, with an emphasis on composition and arrangement, and specialized in “Orchestrating and Producing Music for Film and Games” through Berklee Online. As a composer, he has created soundtracks for Brazilian video games, films, and advertising, also performing sound design on various projects. Having created diverse arrangements for string quartets and quintets, bands of different formations, choirs, electronic music, and others, he brings an eclectic musical background with different aesthetic perspectives.
He studied guitar with renowned musicians from the Brazilian music scene such as Lupa Santiago (Sinequanon and others) and Jarbas Barbosa (Mantiqueira band). He also studied composition, harmony, arrangement, and band practice with great musicians from the Brazilian scene including Sizão Machado, Carlos Ezequiel, Rodrigo Ursaia, Daniel Maldonnet, Guilherme Ribeiro, Bob Wyatt, Douglas Fonseca, Gilberto de Syllos, and Marcelo Coelho.
This diverse musical foundation—from his grandfather’s guitar to collaborations with Brazil’s finest musicians—now fuels The Stringuy’s mission to share Brazilian music’s beauty and complexity with the world.

For 10 years, he worked as a University Professor in São Paulo, teaching Audiovisual, Architecture, and Design courses at various colleges. He ended his academic career at the end of 2021, after deciding to dedicate even more time to his musical career and his advertising company.
